About The Position

Sauer Group is seeking a detail-oriented Commissioning Project Assistant to support commissioning operations through documentation management, data tracking, scheduling support, and project coordination. The Commissioning Project Assistant supports the commissioning team by maintaining project documentation, tracking commissioning activities, managing databases and spreadsheets, assembling turnover packages, and coordinating administrative aspects of startup and testing activities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, documentation, and project records while supporting complex construction and building systems projects. Depending on project needs, this position may work from an office environment, an active construction site, or a combination of both.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or technical coursework preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other database or spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to manage and maintain large amounts of data accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a project team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in construction administration, project coordination, document control, engineering support, facilities management, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting construction, commissioning, or project-based teams.
  • Familiarity with document management systems, project tracking tools, or construction software.
  • Experience creating reports, maintaining logs, and managing project documentation.
  • Knowledge of Procore, Bluebeam, SharePoint, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • A general understanding of construction processes and project workflows is beneficial but not required.
  • A general understanding of Building Management Systems (BMS) is beneficial but not required.
  • A general understanding of Mechanical and HVAC systems is beneficial but not required.
  • A general understanding of Equipment startup and commissioning processes is beneficial but not required.
  • A general understanding of Engineering or technical documentation is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain commissioning logs, spreadsheets, databases, and project documentation.
  • Track and update commissioning checklists, quality issues, and punch-list items.
  • Assemble turnover packages, closeout documentation, and project records.
  • Organize and maintain commissioning files, inspection reports, and safety documentation.
  • Support scheduling and coordination of equipment startups, testing activities, and vendor visits.
  • Enter, verify, and manage large volumes of technical and project-related data with accuracy.
  • Assist in tracking commissioning milestones and project deliverables.
  • Generate reports and provide administrative support to the commissioning team.
  • Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, vendors, and manufacturer representatives to gather and organize required documentation.
  • Ensure project records are maintained in accordance with company and client requirements.
