The successful candidate will work closely with project leadership, construction teams, trade contractors, vendors, design teams, commissioning specialists, tenant representatives, and operations stakeholders to ensure systems are completed, tested, documented, and handed over safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project schedules. This is a key leadership role supporting a large-scale mission-critical data center program and requires strong technical expertise, commissioning experience, stakeholder coordination, and the ability to drive accountability across multiple disciplines.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of commissioning, startup, or project delivery experience within mission-critical, industrial, power generation, or large commercial facilities.
  • Previous data center commissioning experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading commissioning teams and coordinating multidisciplinary commissioning efforts.
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, controls, and fire/life safety systems commonly used in hyperscale data centers.
  • Experience with medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical distribution systems, generators, UPS systems, switchgear, cooling infrastructure, pumps, chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, and related systems.
  • Familiarity with BMS, EPMS, DCIM, controls integration, alarm management, trending, and operational monitoring.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, single-line diagrams, sequences of operation, testing procedures, schedules, and turnover documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of commissioning planning, functional testing, integrated systems testing, deficiency management, and turnover processes.
  • Experience managing contractors, vendors, and client stakeholders in fast-paced construction environments.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to pass required background checks, drug screening, client onboarding requirements, and site access requirements.
  • Must comply with all project safety, training, and access requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with an owner's project management team, owner's representative, commissioning agent, EPC contractor, general contractor, or major trade contractor.
  • Familiarity with commissioning and completions platforms such as CxAlloy, Hexagon, GoCompletions, Autodesk Build, Procore, or similar systems.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA regulations, electrical safety practices, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and energized work planning.
  • Experience supporting utility-loss testing, generator recovery testing, BMS/EPMS validation, and fire/life safety integration testing.
  • Technical degree, engineering background, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, CCP, CxA, CBCP, or related credentials are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day commissioning planning and execution activities for assigned data center facilities and infrastructure.
  • Drive commissioning readiness from construction completion through system testing, integrated systems testing, documentation closeout, and final operational handover.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders, general contractors, trade contractors, vendors, commissioning engineers, design teams, tenant representatives, and operations personnel.
  • Develop, review, and manage commissioning plans, test procedures, readiness checklists, schedules, reports, risk registers, and turnover documentation.
  • Support systemization, turnover sequencing, and commissioning work planning aligned with construction progress and project milestones.
  • Lead commissioning meetings, readiness reviews, test planning sessions, constraint reviews, and issue-resolution discussions.
  • Manage commissioning activities across electrical, mechanical, controls, fire/life safety, communications, BMS, EPMS, DCIM, and other mission-critical systems.
  • Ensure commissioning procedures and test scripts are reviewed, approved, executed, documented, and closed out according to project requirements.
  • Track deficiencies, constraints, risks, retesting activities, and issue resolution through final acceptance.
  • Coordinate vendor and OEM support for testing, troubleshooting, training, and final acceptance activities.
  • Verify turnover documentation is complete, accurate, and ready for operational handover.
  • Support integrated systems testing, including normal operations, failure scenarios, recovery sequences, alarm validation, controls testing, and facility resilience verification.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with HSE, Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), energized work requirements, and site safety procedures.
