About The Position

As a Commissary Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of food and supplies from the central commissary to various locations. This is a part-time position with a set schedule on Saturdays, but offers potential for additional hours through catering, random deliveries, and covering for other drivers. The role requires adherence to all traffic laws, safety guidelines, and company policies, as well as effective communication with staff and customers.

Requirements

  • Must have a Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to lift up to 80-85 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and twist for up to 90% of the shift.
  • Ability to frequently lift product from various heights, including floor level to over head.
  • Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily.
  • Ability to work in various temperature-controlled environments.
  • Ability to walk on a variety of flooring such as concrete, tile, carpet, etc.
  • Strong communication skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basis.
  • Organizational skills: Ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment: Working independently and as a team player to ensure customers receive orders timely and with the highest quality.
  • Maintain integrity and high standards of product handling from all perspectives.
  • Maintain and drive safety policies; driving for accountability of safe practices throughout the shift.

  • Zero - One (0-1) year driving experience or relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate the delivery vehicle (van or truck) to transport foods, supplies, or products from the commissary to designated locations.
  • Plan and organize delivery routes to optimize efficiency and meet delivery schedules.
  • Load and unload delivered items, ensuring proper handling and securing of products to prevent damage during transportation.
  • Verify the accuracy of delivery items against the delivery manifest and/or order sheet.
  • Perform routine pre-trip inspections of the delivery vehicle, checking for any mechanical or safety issues.
  • Report any vehicle malfunctions or required maintenance to leadership immediately.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date delivery logs, including delivery records, mileage, and fuel usage.
  • Ensure all required documentation, such as delivery receipts and/or invoices, are completed accurately and according to company policies.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations during transportation.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines regarding food products before, during, and after delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with commissary staff, supervisors, and customers regarding scheduled deliveries, changes, or any issues.
  • Adhere to all company safety standards.
  • Training will be conducted on a few weekdays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
  • Be somewhat flexible to accommodate weather conditions or unforeseen issues.
