About The Position

Denver International Airport (DEN) is seeking a Commercial Transportation Operations Assistant to join its Parking and Commercial Transportation Department. This role involves performing clerical duties that require technical and customer service skills. The assistant will be responsible for maintaining commercial vehicle files, operating permits, and insurance information, registering commercial vehicles, corresponding with customers, and conducting research using the commercial vehicle management system and other relevant systems. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented individual to gain insight into the operations of the Parking and Commercial Transportation AVI office. The role requires interpreting and explaining regulations, policies, and procedures, reviewing and evaluating forms and applications for accuracy and compliance, providing specialized information, identifying issues with commercial transportation operators, and following up on customer requests or complaints. The assistant will also help resolve sensitive inquiries and problems, make sound decisions, and assist with documenting processes and writing policies.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • Three (3) years of full performance office support/clerical work (type and level of an Administrative Support Assistant III).
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.
  • Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
  • FBI criminal background check is required.
  • Must have valid work authorization that does not require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clerical duties requiring technical and customer service skills.
  • Maintain commercial vehicle files, operating permits, and insurance.
  • Register commercial vehicles.
  • Correspond with customers.
  • Perform research utilizing the commercial vehicle management system and other systems.
  • Assist staff and customers daily.
  • Interpret, apply, and explain regulations, policies, standards, and/or procedures to internal/external customers.
  • Review and evaluate forms, applications, computations, and documents to determine accuracy, completeness, acceptability, or compliance.
  • Provide specialized information and identify problems with commercial transportation operators.
  • Follow up on requests or complaints from customers or operators.
  • Respond to sensitive inquiries and problems related to the specialized/technical area and resolve problems by making reliable decisions.
  • Assist with writing policies & procedures, as well as documenting processes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
