About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent to oversee field operations for large-scale commercial and multifamily construction projects throughout the Memphis area. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for managing daily jobsite activities, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, and ensuring work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate has a proven background with a commercial general contractor and extensive experience leading projects from site mobilization through final closeout. This is a field-focused position for a leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, proactively solves problems, and builds strong working relationships with project teams, clients, architects, engineers, and trade partners.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of superintendent or field leadership experience on commercial or multifamily construction projects.
  • Proven success managing complex commercial construction projects through multiple phases of construction.
  • Experience working for a commercial general contractor is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, sequencing, scheduling, subcontractor management, quality control, and safety.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documents.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and jobsite safety best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple trades while maintaining project schedules and quality standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with subcontractors, clients, architects, engineers, and internal project teams.
  • Local candidates in the Memphis area are strongly preferred.
  • Must successfully complete professional reference checks and pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all on-site construction activities from mobilization through project completion.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and field personnel to maintain project progress.
  • Develop, update, and manage project schedules to meet milestones and completion deadlines.
  • Ensure all work complies with project plans, specifications, contract documents, and quality standards.
  • Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies while maintaining a safe, organized jobsite.
  • Monitor workmanship and proactively address quality issues before they impact project delivery.
  • Identify field conflicts, construction challenges, and scheduling risks, implementing practical solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, and other project documents to anticipate coordination issues.
  • Lead subcontractor meetings, safety meetings, and daily coordination efforts to communicate priorities and expectations.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, progress updates, jobsite documentation, and project records.
  • Coordinate inspections, punch lists, commissioning activities, and final project closeout.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, architects, project managers, inspectors, and trade partners throughout the project lifecycle.
