About The Position

Founded in 1920, Akerman is recognized as one of the country’s premier law firms, with more than 700 lawyers throughout the United States. Akerman is seeking an experienced Real Estate Paralegal to support its Commercial Real Estate Practice, focusing on contract administration, title insurance issuance, and closings for commercial land and lot acquisitions and dispositions on behalf of homebuilders and developers. The successful candidate will be proactive, detail‑oriented, and demonstrate a strong take‑control/ownership approach to managing files in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment. In addition to strong technical real estate skills, this position requires a paralegal who works well collaboratively, communicates effectively, and exercises sound judgment while supporting complex commercial real estate development and transactional matters. The applicant would be working on a team of attorneys and paralegals, and would be expected to work in the office at least three (3) days per week.

Requirements

  • Possess a minimum of five (5) years of real estate paralegal experience in a law firm setting;
  • Have thorough knowledge of commercial real estate acquisition and sale transactions;
  • Have experience supporting homebuilder representation and commercial real estate development matters;
  • Demonstrate hands‑on experience with contract administration, title insurance, survey review, and closing requirements;
  • Be highly organized, proactive, and capable of taking ownership of files with minimal supervision;
  • Work well with others and perform effectively in a high‑pressure environment;
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Exhibit excellent attention to detail and follow‑through;
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, iManage, Chrome River (Emburse), Intapp, and document comparison tools.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and tracking critical dates;
  • Reviewing, preparing, and analyzing title requirements and exceptions from coverage in connection with title commitment and policy issuance, and preparation of title summaries concerning same;
  • Review of legal descriptions and survey matters;
  • Preparing draft closing documents and related materials, including but not limited to closing trackers, checklists, and closing binders;
  • Coordinating the execution and delivery of such closing documents and related funds by the respective parties to transactions;
  • Organize and maintain transaction files and records;
  • Accurately record time in accordance with firm policies, where applicable;
  • Effectively manage multiple active transactions while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
