About The Position

Foresite Commercial Real Estate is seeking an Experienced Commercial (Retail) Property Accountant to manage and help oversee the financial operations related to our managed properties. This role is vital in ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting and compliance while supporting property managers in maintaining the profitability of our managed portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting principles with significant experience in commercial real estate, particularly in retail. You will be responsible for preparing financial statements, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing detailed analyses of property performance. This position will be responsible for the full cycle of accounting for a set of properties and will communicate and plan with the client's CPA's on year end entries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5-10 years of accounting experience in commercial real estate, with a focus on retail properties preferred
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management
  • Proficiency with accounting software and advanced skills in MS Excel; familiarity with Yardi and Appfolio is a must
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and reports for retail properties
  • Assist in managing and overseeing portions of the accounting process and team
  • Confidently communicate and problem solve directly with clients and new accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, providing insight into financial performance
  • Conduct account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records
  • Prepare supporting documentation for audits and compliance purposes
  • Collaborate with property management teams to support operational and financial decision-making
