About The Position

The Commercial Market Leader I is responsible for providing leadership of the Commercial Market within the Western Region of CannonDesign. This includes developing and leading high-performance diverse teams focused on the development and implementation of the Firmwide Market Business Plan. The role involves business development, client engagement, team leadership, mentoring, and advancing the quality of work. The leader will integrate design services, manage processes, and deliver financial performance for the market, acting as an ambassador for the firm's brand and Living-Centered Design philosophy.

Responsibilities

  • Developing new business opportunities with new and current client partners in the West Region to achieve top line targets, supporting a minimum 10% growth of the practice year over year.
  • Recruiting talent for the Commercial Market.
  • Leading, engaging, and partnering at the highest levels with clients on billable project-specific work.
  • Advancing innovative solutions that differentiate the firm and foster strong long-term client relationships.
  • Acting as a leading voice for the market externally and internally through speaking events, writing, and other promotional activities.
  • Engaging in activities to advance the firm, region, market, and office.
  • Working with and mentoring market team members.
  • Recruiting talented candidates to be part of a high-performing team.
  • Advancing strategic initiatives and client pursuit discussions and strategies.
  • Leading the development and execution of a market business plan in concert with firm-wide goals.
  • Identifying and actively pursuing new target clients as well as nurturing existing client relationships.
  • Promoting the full range of integrated design services and supporting the advancement of Living-Centered Design.
  • Achieving a personal goal of $3M per year in net signed fees.
  • Serving as a client leader and/or subject matter expert where appropriate.
  • Identifying future market trends and opportunities for growth and advancement.
  • Demonstrating a high level of market knowledge, including "Best Practices," and evidence-based and research-based design.
  • Collaborating with Region and Office Leaders, and Client Leaders to ensure business plan bottom line initiatives are successfully implemented.
  • Achieving a minimum of 15% firm profitability level for the market each year.
  • Assessing, mentoring, coaching, and recruiting staff to build a high-performance team and develop future leaders.
  • Taking ownership for the growth of a diverse and inclusive team.
  • Assisting in establishing an environment that encourages leadership, integrity, humility, respect, responsibility, collaboration, experimentation, innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship.
