About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and relationship-focused Commercial Lender to join Powell Valley National Bank's Abingdon Office. This role is ideal for a lender who enjoys building long-term partnerships with local businesses, delivering responsive service, and helping communities grow. The Commercial Lender will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing an existing commercial loan portfolio, and serving as a trusted financial partner to customers. Requirements

  • Experience in commercial lending, business banking, credit analysis, or related financial services.
  • Strong business development and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial information and make sound lending recommendations.
  • Knowledge of commercial credit structures, underwriting principles, and banking regulations.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and strengthening community relationships.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Agricultural Business, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business customers and community partners.
  • Develop new commercial lending opportunities through networking, referrals, and community involvement.
  • Analyze financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and collateral to evaluate creditworthiness.
  • Structure and recommend commercial loan requests that align with customer needs and bank policy.
  • Manage an assigned commercial loan portfolio, including renewals, annual reviews, and risk monitoring.
  • Partner with internal teams to deliver comprehensive banking solutions, including deposit, treasury management, and other financial services.
  • Maintain regular customer contact to provide proactive service and identify opportunities for deeper relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with bank policies, credit standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Represent the bank professionally within the community through civic, networking, and business development activities.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture focused on customer service and operational excellence.
