About The Position

Community State Bank is seeking a Commercial Lending Officer (Commercial Relationship Manager) to join their team of Commercial Lending professionals in their Fort Wayne, Indiana office. The Commercial Banking Relationship Manager II (CRM II) is responsible for implementing and executing a disciplined sales and client service process to develop new, and expand current, commercial banking relationships to fully solve clients’ financial needs. Sales goals will be commensurate with position level and experience. The CRM II may also assist with training less experienced CRMs as needed.

Requirements

A minimum of three to five (3-5) years of commercial lending experience required.
Professional verbal and written communication skills
Ability to type at least 30 wpm
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Fluent communication in the English language
Ability to create thorough, accurate, and professional-level written client presentations
Ability to travel frequently to various client and bank locations as needed.

Nice To Haves

A 4-year college degree in Business or related field normally required. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

Develop and expand both current and new commercial banking relationships.
Maintain existing client relationships by providing ongoing effective and clear guidance to each client in the lender’s portfolio.
Identify commercial banking prospects and pursue converting prospects into new clients.
Maintain calling records for prospects.
Meet or exceed scorecard (sales) goals for new loan production, net loan growth, and other deliverables.
Obtain necessary information, in a timely manner, to assess client needs and financial and business information for use in credit analysis.
Provide a reasonable initial assessment of credit risk.
Monitor existing loan portfolio to ensure the risk grade remains accurate and that loans conform to terms and policy, updating the risk grade as needed.
Provide action recommendations for resolving marginally performing or delinquent loans.
Be aware of external market or economic factors influencing a customer’s performance and ability to repay.
Coordinate renewals and client contact with loan admins as needed.
Assist with credit presentations.
Practice an exceptional standard of client service/hospitality.
Master a “client first” approach and encourage it in colleagues.
Create an observably positive experience for clients.
Regularly make in-person client visits, both individually and in partnership with colleagues in Commercial and other business lines to increase relationships and gain new business.
Maintain a strong, visible presence in the community by participating in community events and organizations.
Maintain awareness of what is required to achieve and maintain profitability for the bank.
Possess expert knowledge of all CSB products and services, including Retail, Small Business, Mortgage, Commercial, and Treasury Management products and services.
Exhibit a strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail all job areas.
Demonstrate the strong communication skills and practices necessary for interactions with clients, senior management, and colleagues.
Watch for signs of fraudulent activity in order to protect the bank and clients.
Process commercial loan requests in an accurate and timely manner.
Provide in-depth financial consultations to clients to determine which product(s) best meet their needs and provide regular referrals to other business lines when appropriate.
Learn and comply with all applicable banking regulations and related procedures, including Reg CC, Reg B, Reg P, Reg Z, Bank Secrecy Act, etc.
