About The Position

The primary role of a Commercial Lender is to grow and retain profitable relationships by focusing on delivering value-added solutions to clients and prospects. This position requires a fully experienced and qualified relationship manager capable of independent activity, with proven client relationship skills, extensive product knowledge, technical expertise, and strong transaction execution skills. Credit process management is a critical component, and performance will be measured by effectiveness in marketing areas such as calling activity, proposal generation, revenue generation, risk mitigation, relationship building, and contributing to the long-term growth of the franchise. The role also involves seeking opportunities to cross-sell and anticipate future client needs.

Requirements

  • Formally credit trained and /or underwriting knowledge and experience is preferred.
  • Typically, a minimum of 4 years direct lending or credit support related experience with focus on business relationships.
  • Familiarity of the sales, loan processing and closing processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of Commercial Banking products and services including working knowledge of C & I as well as Owner-Occupied and Investment Commercial Real Estate loans.
  • Ability to expand loans, client relationships and cross sell bank products.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills and proven track record of business development.
  • Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data establish facts and draw conclusions.
  • Able to interpret a variety of technical instructions and can deal with multiple variables.
  • Ability to compute discount, interest, profit, and loss; commission markup and selling price; and ratio, proportion, and percentage. Able to perform very simple algebra.
  • Ability to read periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias.
  • Ability to prepare business letters, proposals, summaries, and reports using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.
  • Ability to conduct training, communicates at panel discussions, and make professional presentations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or another related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit commercial clients; aggressively seeks and obtains quality new business through client and prospect calls, referrals, and cross selling efforts.
  • Obtaining and maintaining COI’s and attending various networking events in the assigned geographic area.
  • Requires skills and experience in loan structuring and credit analysis.
  • Generating a wide variety of commercial and real estate loans.
  • Closing loans typically in the $1 million to $10 million range.
  • Contributes to deposit growth by cross selling and promoting additional banking products.
  • Other duties as assigned.
