About The Position

Grand Canyon University’s Facilities department is seeking a full-time Commercial Kitchen Equipment Supervisor. This role is responsible for supervisory duties, including hiring recommendations, evaluations, coaching, training, and discipline. The supervisor will also manage timesheets, assist in developing strategy, track equipment and inventory, assign duties, and inspect work. A key aspect of the role is ensuring all equipment is in good working condition, making recommendations for repair and maintenance, and ensuring crew members adhere to university and OSHA guidelines, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The position involves training employees in new methods, interpreting mechanical blueprints, preparing sketches, and assisting with budget preparation and adherence. Additionally, the supervisor will provide recommendations for environmental best practices, evaluate and schedule maintenance workloads, and perform electronic recordkeeping for work orders.

Requirements

  • Five years of Commercial Kitchen Equipment experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must successfully pass a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supervisory duties including recommendation for hire/termination, evaluation, coaching, training, and discipline.
  • Verify employee timesheets for accuracy; approve and submit.
  • Assist with the development, oversight, and implementation of Commercial Kitchen Equipment strategy.
  • Track Commercial Kitchen Equipment, inventory, and equipment.
  • Assign duties to staff and inspects work activities.
  • Ensure all equipment utilized is in good working condition; make recommendations for equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Ensure all crew members follow university and OSHA guidelines in performance of daily work; ensure all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is utilized daily by all crew members.
  • Train and instruct employees in new methods or procedures.
  • Must be able to read and interpret mechanical blueprints or schematics to ensure assembly or repair is accurate.
  • Prepare sketches of proposed work and assists in the design and specifications of planned jobs or contracts.
  • Ensure budgeting guidelines are met; prioritizes expenditures to stay within budget; assists in the preparation of capital and operations budgets.
  • Provide recommendations to management to facilitate the use of environmental best practices in the maintenance and upkeep of GCU facilities and assets.
  • Evaluate workload and schedule of service work in a way that best utilizes service technicians.
  • Evaluate corrective and preventive maintenance workload. Assign work orders according to university service level agreement and in a manner that most efficiently utilizes assigned technicians.
  • Perform electronic recordkeeping related to corrective and preventive maintenance. Track and close assigned work orders; will monitor work orders assigned to team and assist them in managing work orders.
  • Supervise Commercial Kitchen Equipment employees.
