About The Position

United Contractor Services is seeking an Estimator to price commercial interior packages, from initial takeoff through bid day and handoff to operations. United Contractor Services is a nationwide commercial interiors contractor with offices in multiple markets and scopes that include metal framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings, EIFS, stucco, painting, and Division 8 and 10 specialties.

  • Strong command of construction documents, including architectural plans, partition schedules, reflected ceiling plans, and specifications.
  • Organized and accurate under deadline pressure, including when multiple bids are due in the same week.
  • Comfortable communicating by phone with general contractors and vendors, and able to build relationships that generate repeat work.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of UL-rated assemblies, STC requirements, and seismic or deflection considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed takeoffs from plans and specifications, including wall types, framing gauges and spacing, board layers, finish levels, ceiling systems, and soffits.
  • Develop labor and material pricing using productivity rates, current material costs, and project conditions.
  • Review specifications for exclusions, alternates, and scope gaps before they result in change orders.
  • Write proposals and scope letters, and follow up with general contractors through bid day and afterward.
  • Visit job sites and attend pre-bid meetings to understand access, phasing, and existing conditions.
  • Hand awarded work over to project managers and superintendents with a clear, well-documented estimate.
