About The Position

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual with a desire to make a significant growth and profit contribution to our Commercial Property Department. The primary responsibility as a Production Underwriter is to meet or exceed the Commercial growth and profit goals for assigned brokers. This role involves liaising between the Company and assigned brokers through face-to-face visits at least 3 days a week, and other mediums of contact to produce and underwrite profitable new Commercial Property/Casualty business within service standards in accordance with company guidelines and within assigned authority. The role also includes marketing Unica Commercial Insurance products and services to brokers through presentations, negotiating premium and terms of insurance while maintaining excellent relationships and service standards, analyzing and evaluating results, and using individual/collaborative judgment to maintain profit and growth. Communication of results, outstanding issues, and opportunities to the Senior Director of Commercial Insurance is also a key part of this position. Underwriting information will be recorded for evaluation, assessment, and profitability. The role also involves negotiating Facultative Reinsurance and processing as required, within assigned authority, and maintaining facultative closings and certificates. Additionally, there will be opportunities to assist with training and coaching of other staff.

Requirements

Strong product knowledge
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to travel overnight.
8+ years of experience in commercial Property/Casualty underwriting including senior-level experience in this area.
University/College degree.

FCIP/CIP/CRM designations are an asset.

Responsibilities
