About The Position

Under the immediate supervision of the Director of Standards, Insurance and Products, the incumbent acts as a resource person for their team and other company sectors regarding commercial insurance products, standards, and business solutions. Additionally, they act as a project manager. Notably, they may design new products, develop new coverages, draft standards, develop related insurance tools and documents, and participate in training for all types of commercial products (small and medium commercial) as well as for our 3 claims entities (Beneva). You will find fulfillment in the following functions: Advise agents and underwriters on Errors & Omissions (E&O)/Directors & Officers (D&O) and develop these products. Conduct research and participate in the design of various commercial products. Advise on integration into the operational system and develop standards to guide product underwriting. Participate in the work of various multidisciplinary committees as well as various working groups evaluating the feasibility of "new" avenues that could influence standards and products and promote operational efficiency. In collaboration with the commercial operations management of the 3 companies, ensure that agents and underwriters have the necessary and up-to-date documentation to perform good underwriting. Actively participate in knowledge sharing between the 3 claims companies to ensure a certain uniformity and maximize developments and analyses. Participate in activities related to external audits and compliance with various rules (GAA, FCSA, PRR, BAC, AMF) and recommend follow-ups and actions to be taken. Draft policy clauses, validate with the Legal Department, and ensure appropriate follow-up with other concerned departments. Validate proposed adjustments to sales arguments and their dissemination, and answer questions regarding the interpretation of various forms. Analyze and draft project requests, oversee the implementation of projects or improvements related to products, coverages, insured documents (contract, wording, notice), and standards, respecting deadlines and cost-benefit balance. Participate in analyses and work to ensure monitoring of legal and regulatory changes affecting operations. Participate in the execution of the department's objectives and perform any other task compatible with their duties.

Requirements

  • Hold a college diploma in general insurance or equivalent.
  • Accumulate a minimum of 8 years of experience in commercial insurance underwriting.
  • Have experience in commercial underwriting.
  • Have relevant knowledge and experience in E&O / D&O.
  • Hold the title of Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or be in the process of obtaining it.
  • Knowledge of Word and Excel software.
