About The Position

EXL Risk Control is seeking self-directed independent contractors to perform onsite commercial insurance surveys and inspections in the Cincinnati, Ohio area and locations within approximately 60 miles of Cincinnati, including parts of Indiana and Kentucky. Inspectors work from their own home or office and provide risk control reports that give insurance-industry clients information needed to underwrite commercial insurance policies. Reports may include recommendations to control or correct potential loss-producing conditions.

Inspectors assess a variety of commercial operations, such as retail businesses, restaurants, hotels, apartments, construction jobsites, churches, and schools. Surveys most commonly focus on Property and General Liability coverage, but may also address Workers Compensation, Auto/Fleet, Products Liability, Inland Marine, and Builders Risk. Fees are negotiable based on experience and the specific characteristics of selected jobs. Candidates without relevant experience may be referred to a 15-hour online certification option to qualify.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in commercial insurance, real estate, inspection, construction, claims, loss control, underwriting, and/or fire and safety.

Responsibilities

• Schedule onsite surveys and inspections.
• Prepare risk control reports for insurance-industry clients, including information relevant to underwriting and recommendations to address potential loss-producing conditions.
• Manage accepted assignments and secure customer appointments within a local territory.
• Complete work assignments on time and in accordance with client quality and timeliness standards.
• Evaluate commercial businesses and operations for hazards and safety risks across applicable insurance lines.
