About The Position

Total Appliance and A/C Repairs, Inc. is seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Technician for a long-term commitment in South Florida. This is a full-time position with immediate hire. The technician will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining various HVAC equipment, including refrigeration, air conditioning, heating units, pumps, and building automation systems. Experience with 100% Outside Air systems and the ability to rig and move heavy components are a plus.

Requirements

  • 5 years of verifiable experience as Commercial HVAC Technician required.
  • EPA Universal Certification required.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry moderate weight (15-75 pounds).
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, reach, and perform repetitive hand motions.
  • Ability to hear and speak.
  • Satisfactory outcome of background and drug screening prior to starting employment.
  • English (Required)
  • Ability to commute to Hallandale Beach, FL 33009 (Required)
  • Ability to relocate to Hallandale Beach, FL 33009 before starting work (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, Plan, and Perform Preventive Maintenance of HVAC System if assigned.
  • Plan shutdowns for maintenance and repair pumps including chill water, heating water and condensation pumps.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and make modifications to HVAC System.
  • Adhere to all city, state, and federal regulatory statues.
  • Order and maintain parts needed to repair and maintain HVAC Equipment.
  • Properly maintain and safeguard all company assets.
  • Read electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Follow company policies and procedures.
  • Organize work and meet deadlines.
  • Wire routine reports and correspondence.
  • Perform calculations using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Understand and master refrigeration cycles, including component identification, operation, diagnosis, and repair.
  • Understand refrigeration recovery, evacuation, and charging, including installation and sizing of refrigerant piping.
  • Understand and master heating cycles, including component identification, operation, diagnosis, and repair.
  • Understand electrical principles, including AC/DC currents, single/three-phase circuits, and series/parallel circuits.
  • Read advanced wiring diagrams and use multi-meters to read voltage, current, and resistance values.
  • Troubleshoot advanced electrical circuits.
  • Understand and master the fundamentals of temperature and humidity measurement and control in air conditioning units.
  • Understand the process of treating air to control temperature, humidity, cleanliness, and distribution.
  • Use a psychometric chart to determine the results of mixing air with various properties.
  • Understand and master all types of HVAC systems and their component operations.
  • Perform advanced heat load/loss calculations.
