We are looking for someone to join our Commercial HVAC Technician, II who will be responsible for overseeing, developing, and driving continuous improvements within preventative maintenance schedules for all internal HVAC laboratory and facility equipment at our Dearborn & Detroit, MI locations.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or Trade School Certification in HVAC and refrigeration systems
  • Minimum of 4 years of Commercial HVAC Experience.
  • Universal EPA certification is required
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing low-temperature industrial HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
  • Familiar with Tescor, CTS, Espec, CSZ, & Thermotron ECU units.
  • Experience in refrigerant charging and recovery.
  • Proven understanding of various styles of electrical & mechanical schematics to complete required tasks for equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles.
  • Solid understanding of and experience reading various styles of electrical & mechanical schematics.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work well independently with a high level of organization and self-motivation.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills.
  • Moderate level of soldering and de-soldering skills.
  • Excellent customer and vendor communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office skills.
  • Possess mental faculties consistent with performing the minimum requirements of the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Michigan HVAC license preferred.
  • Allen Bradley PLC experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, respond, and repair laboratory and facility HVAC equipment and test stands following the ticket system.
  • Oversee, develop, and drive continuous improvements within PM – Preventative Maintenance schedules for all internal HVAC laboratory and facility equipment
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC/R equipment, including cascade refrigeration systems and associated controls.
  • Conduct leak detection, refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, and system commissioning in accordance with EPA regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair various electronic and mechanical-related HVAC systems across different manufacturers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair miscellaneous mechanical equipment such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, heat exchangers, valves, pumps, and related HVAC/R components.
  • Troubleshoot and repair low-temperature and cascade refrigeration systems.
  • Support internal and external service teams with PM-preventative maintenance and calibrations on test stands per ISO-17025.
  • Complete required documentation in our ticket system, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and equipment failures to minimize downtime.
  • Researches and stays abreast of regulations to support laboratory efficiency, process improvements and overall ECU run time.
  • Collaborate with facility personnel, engineers, vendors, and contractors to support operational and project requirements.
  • Support system upgrades, retrofits, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance energy efficiency and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company operating procedures.
  • All other related duties as assigned.
