About The Position

The Commercial Helper rides on a vehicle and assists a Driver in providing prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services to customers on a designated route. The Helper safely loads waste, carries bags and containers to the vehicle for disposal, and assists the Driver in maneuvering the vehicle by directing from the ground. The position also helps maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle, route, and work area.

Responsibilities

• Ride on the vehicle to assist the Driver while servicing customers on a designated route.
• Operate the packing mechanism and various levers and handles to activate the lifting and loading mechanism.
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip; spray and clean the hopper and truck, if applicable.
• Perform complete pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections in accordance with Company policy and report safety issues on standard reports.
• Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.
• Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
• Clean the area around accidental waste spills in accordance with applicable safety standards and policies.
• Meet required department productivity standards to ensure customers are serviced in a timely and efficient manner.
• Follow required safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
