About The Position

Hays Electrical Services is seeking an experienced and driven Fire Alarm Estimator to help lead and grow our fire alarm division. This is a pivotal role in shaping the future of our fire alarm business, particularly as we expand into high-rise multifamily markets. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of fire alarm systems, NFPA code compliance, and solid estimating experience. This position does not require NICET certification, but candidates must have prior experience working with Gamewell-FCI or Autocall systems. We are looking for someone motivated by the opportunity to build something meaningful from the ground up, someone who thrives on challenges and takes pride in delivering excellence.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of fire alarm estimating experience
  • Familiarity with fire alarm system design, components, and NFPA 72 code requirements.
  • Experience working with Autocall and/or Gamewell-FCI systems is required.
  • Proficient in reading construction drawings, specifications, and electrical schematics.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated with a growth mindset and entrepreneurial drive.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using estimating software, takeoff tools, or digital plan review platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate, detailed estimates and proposals for fire alarm systems in high-rise multifamily and commercial projects.
  • Analyze specifications, drawings, and contract documents to develop project scopes and cost breakdowns.
  • Interpret fire alarm codes, NFPA standards, and local requirements to ensure compliant system design and pricing.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify scope, identify value engineering opportunities, and support bid strategies.
  • Maintain and update pricing databases, supplier contacts, and historical cost records.
  • Assist in design-build and preconstruction efforts by evaluating design concepts and contributing constructability input.
  • Evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive and accurate proposals.
  • Support business development by attending client meetings, presentations, and site walks as needed.
  • Participate in the development of the Fire Alarm division's tools, workflows, and growth strategy.
