About The Position

MCS is hiring for a NICET IV Fire Alarm Estimator in Tampa, FL. This is a full-time, permanent position with benefits. The NICET IV Fire Alarm Estimator must demonstrate a strong ability to analyze project specifications and accurately estimate the costs associated with fire alarm systems, including equipment, labor, and materials. The NICET IV Fire Alarm Estimator will require excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. It is important that candidates stay current with industry trends, NFPA standards, local AHJ requirements, and applicable government regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience estimating fire alarm and life safety system projects.
  • Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, life safety systems, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Proven experience reviewing bid documents, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Experience utilizing estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with major fire alarm manufacturers, including Notifier, Fire-Lite, Siemens, Edwards/EST, Gamewell-FCI, and Simplex.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work effectively with various external customers including government, military, and contractor personnel at all levels.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the company.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred.
  • NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level IV preferred.
  • Field experience in fire alarm installation, programming, commissioning, inspections, or service is strongly preferred.
  • Experience estimating healthcare, education, government, industrial, or mission critical facilities is highly preferred.
  • A current passport is required for Overseas travel.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing bid documents, drawings, specifications, and scope requirements to understand project needs.
  • Preparing complete and accurate estimates for fire alarm system installations, upgrades, and renovations.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, riser diagrams, specifications, and code requirements.
  • Preparing comprehensive scopes of work for estimates and proposals.
  • Utilizing estimating software to develop accurate and competitive project pricing.
  • Coordinating with project managers, engineers, vendors, and clients throughout the bidding process.
  • Managing multiple bid opportunities and meeting strict proposal deadlines.
  • Assisting with design build opportunities, conceptual budgeting, and pre construction planning as required.
  • Supporting large scale commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, and mission critical projects.
