About The Position

As a Commercial Mechanic, you will work at our Wilks Truck Center location providing light mechanical service and tire service to the Commercial Trucking industry. You will perform light mechanical maintenance on commercial trucks and trailers, including lube, oil changes, filter service, alignments, front-end suspension, brakes & air systems, and DOT Annual Inspections. Responsibilities will include determining service requirements from commercial truck drivers, communicating them to the Service Supervisor and/or Service Technicians, and properly executing required service tickets. You will also respond in a timely manner to customer service calls, diagnosing issues, and performing on-site repairs and/or replacements. Additionally, you will clean and maintain service equipment, perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods (including lifting commercial tires and wheels, standing, bending, and squatting), report safety issues immediately, and help keep the shop clean and organized while maintaining a professional appearance. Any other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of Commercial experience including brakes, oil changes, front end work, all wheel position alignments.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Have your own tools
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Commitment to follow all safety procedures and comply with OSHA regulations and safety requirements.
  • Must be a self-starter and willing to take initiative, able and willing to work without direct supervision, and be willing to attend appropriate training sessions.
  • Strong work ethic; independently motivated to produce results with limited influence from others.
  • Hard worker, someone who works diligently to get tasks done and demonstrates personal characteristics, such as responsibility, dependability, conscientiousness, communication, and teamwork.
  • Display a commitment to learning new technologies within the rapidly changing industry.
  • Ability to review, analyze, and interpret information, identify problems, and make decisions.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow procedures and guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • DOT Inspector Certification.
  • ASE Certification in brakes and suspension.
