About The Position

The Commercial Development Specialist plays a critical role in developing the client-facing proposals behind some of our largest and most complex pursuits. Were looking for an experienced proposal professional who is exceptionally detail-oriented, strong with both numbers and language, and comfortable working with technical information in a fast-moving environment. This person will bring together pricing, estimates, engineering inputs, project schedules, scope details, and technical documentation to create clear, accurate, and compelling commercial proposals. Because these pursuits can represent significant project value, precision matters. The right person will be comfortable digging into complex Excel-based analyses, catching inconsistencies, asking the right questions, and taking ownership of the details while partnering across Sales, Estimating, Engineering, Operations, Finance, and other subject-matter experts. Data center experience is helpful, but what matters most is experience supporting complex proposals or large capital projects and the ability to produce high-quality work where the details truly matter.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Construction Management, Communications, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in proposal development, sales operations, commercial development, estimating, pricing analysis, or a related role supporting complex technical solutions.
  • Industry experience supporting data center, manufacturing, industrial, modular, mission-critical, construction, engineering, or integrated technology pursuits.
  • Demonstrated ability to write, edit, and organize detailed technical and commercial content for qualification packages and proposals.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, linked workbooks, lookups, pivot tables, data validation, scenario analysis, and clear presentation of pricing information.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; experience with proposal automation, CRM, document-management, or collaboration platforms preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Data center experience is helpful

Responsibilities

  • Develop qualification packages, proposals, requests for information, and other pursuit deliverables for complex data center and manufacturing opportunities.
  • Interpret solicitation requirements, client priorities, and evaluation criteria, and translate them into compliant response plans, content outlines, and submission schedules.
  • Write, edit, and tailor technical and commercial content to clearly communicate capabilities, differentiators, solution integration, delivery approach, and client value.
  • Coordinate reviews, consolidate contributor feedback, and produce polished final submissions that are accurate, consistent, and aligned with established brand and quality standards.
  • Prepare sales estimates, pricing models, cost summaries, and scenario analysis using inputs from estimating, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and finance teams.
  • Build and maintain advanced Excel workbooks that organize assumptions, compare alternatives, calculate pricing impacts, and support commercial decision-making.
  • Validate source data, formulas, exclusions, qualifications, escalation factors, and commercial assumptions before materials are presented for review.
  • Analyze pricing sensitivity, scope changes, delivery options, and integration requirements to identify commercial impacts, gaps, and areas requiring clarification.
  • Develop a working understanding of integrated electrical, mechanical, controls, modular, manufacturing, and construction solutions applicable to data center and industrial environments.
  • Partner with technical subject-matter experts to convert complex system requirements, interfaces, and delivery constraints into clear proposal narratives, matrices, and exhibits.
  • Review customer specifications, drawings, data sheets, and scope documents to identify dependencies, integration points, risks, and information needed to complete a response.
  • Maintain reusable technical content and solution references that reflect current capabilities, technologies, standards, and approved market positioning.
  • Support opportunity qualification by researching clients, markets, project requirements, competitive considerations, and solution fit.
  • Prepare capability statements, project profiles, experience matrices, organizational information, and other materials used to demonstrate qualifications.
  • Document and track pursuit assumptions, client questions, clarifications, commitments, and decisions throughout the commercial development process.
  • Provide timely analytical and documentation support for sales meetings, client presentations, interviews, and internal opportunity reviews.
  • Maintain proposal libraries, resumes, case studies, project data, technical narratives, pricing files, and approved boilerplate content in an organized and searchable structure.
  • Apply version control, naming conventions, access controls, and review workflows to protect accuracy and confidentiality across pursuit documents and workbooks.
  • Edit content for grammar, readability, consistency, tone, technical accuracy, and alignment with solicitation requirements.
  • Create tables, charts, summaries, and other visual content that make complex technical and financial information easier for decision-makers and clients to understand.
  • Coordinate deadlines, assignments, dependencies, and review cycles across multiple concurrent pursuits with varying levels of complexity and urgency.
  • Gather and reconcile inputs from Sales, Marketing, Estimating, Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Finance, Legal, and other contributors.
  • Identify missing, conflicting, or incomplete information and communicate issues promptly to the appropriate stakeholder for resolution.
  • Support continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned, updating templates, and refining proposal, estimating, and pricing-analysis processes.
