About The Position

Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s Commercial Dance Intensive (CDI) is a three-week pre-professional training program designed for dancers ages 15–22 who are serious about pursuing careers in commercial dance. CDI centers high-level technical training, cultural fluency, and real-world industry preparation. Led by acclaimed faculty and guest artists, the program integrates styles such as jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, and street forms with performance, artistry development, and career readiness. Students engage in: Daily masterclasses, Repertory and performance creation, Mock auditions and industry simulations, Artist talks and mentorship conversations, Final performance showcase. CDI is not just training—it is a launchpad for emerging artists navigating today’s commercial dance landscape. CDI Assistants play a vital role in maintaining the energy, organization, and professionalism of the program. They serve as a bridge between students, faculty, and staff, ensuring a seamless and supportive experience. Assistants should expect daily engagement with a diverse, high-level cohort of dancers and must be adaptable, proactive, and highly organized. Some Saturday work may be required.

Requirements

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
  • Federal Work Study student may apply.
  • In good disciplinary standing.
  • Must be located in the U.S.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to engage and support young artists in a professional environment
  • Highly organized, punctual, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to multitask and problem-solve in a fast-paced setting

Responsibilities

  • Support students, faculty, and staff with the overall flow of CDI
  • Assist with student check-in and take daily attendance
  • Help set up studios for classes, artist talks, and program events
  • Serve as rehearsal support for guest choreographers and artists in residence
  • Complete administrative and operational tasks as needed
  • Accompany students during weekend outings and special events
  • Support faculty and guest artists during classes
  • Maintain an injury log and assist with physical therapy coordination and scheduling
  • Organize bulletin boards and distribute important program information
  • Assist with daily mail distribution
  • Serve as a liaison between CDI students and program staff
  • Help organize and facilitate the final performance showcase
  • Provide digital media and copying support
  • Assist with student engagement and community-building events
