About The Position

The Commercial Credit Risk Manager is responsible for monitoring the financial health of an assigned loan portfolio, maintaining communication with clients, and underwriting new and existing transactions. This role involves leading client meetings, internal discussions, and providing guidance on credit policies and risk appetite. The manager will also review credit packages from junior team members, perform due diligence, and oversee the loan documentation and closing process. Additionally, the role requires maintaining oversight of portfolio monitoring requirements, ensuring compliance with loan agreements, and preparing various credit reports.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of policies and procedures, underwriting guidelines and RACs.
  • Advanced knowledge of credit underwriting, financial accounting and loan documentation.
  • Advanced knowledge of how a deal should be structured and comfortability with conversing this structure to lenders.
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong level of interpersonal and social skills needed to interact with loan officers, administrative staff and customers.

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a commercial lending environment in a credit-oriented and underwriting position.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the financial health of an assigned loan portfolio on a timely basis.
  • Maintain ongoing communication and dialogue with clients regarding credit-related reporting and business updates.
  • Underwrite and structure new prospective transactions, as well as renewals, extensions, increases, and modifications for existing clients.
  • Lead external client meetings and internal deal team discussions and approval discussions with senior management.
  • Identify, outline, and mitigate risks associated with potential lending opportunities.
  • Advise on all matters related to the Bank's Credit Policy and related procedures.
  • Provide guidance on loan structures and risk appetite.
  • Review credit packages completed by junior team members and provide guidance and mentorship.
  • Perform required due diligence and analysis.
  • Produce credit presentations in accordance with guidelines and policy.
  • Ensure timely completion of underwriting.
  • Present credit requests to the required level of credit authority.
  • Oversee the legal documentation and closing process.
  • Approve transactions under individual lending authority, when applicable.
  • Maintain oversight via internal reporting and dashboards of all ongoing portfolio monitoring requirements and client deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with all terms of the loan agreement, including financial reporting, covenant compliance, collateral monitoring, required third-party reports, annual reviews, and maturing loans and lines of credit.
  • Maintain direct contact with clients as needed for account monitoring and administration and site visits.
  • Validate and analyze reports such as financial statements, borrowing base certificates, collateral field examinations, appraisals, and engineering reports to verify compliance.
  • Escalate issues to appropriate levels and develop action plans as necessary.
  • Ensure credits are accurately risk-rated and are properly monitored and reported.
  • Prepare all required quarterly reports and analysis, including Criticized Loan Monitoring Reports and other portfolio management reports.
  • Participate in special projects and requests related to the management of the portfolio.
