About The Position

AGI General Contracting is a family-owned commercial general contractor with over 45 years of experience in healthcare, grocery, retail, and other commercial sectors. Projects typically range from $1M to $25M. The Safety Manager is a crucial team member, supporting projects from planning to completion. This role is responsible for leading and improving AGI's safety program by collaborating with project teams to foster safe work practices, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote a proactive safety culture. The Safety Manager will support multiple active construction projects through regular jobsite visits, safety training, incident management, and practical risk solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of commercial construction safety experience, including responsibility for multiple concurrent projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA construction safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Working knowledge of SWPPP requirements and Best Management Practices (BMPs).
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction means, methods, sequencing, and jobsite operations.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel between project sites.
  • Good communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams).

Nice To Haves

  • CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor Certification preferred.
  • Experience with CMiC, or similar construction management software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and administer AGI's company-wide Safety Program, including the Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through leadership, coaching, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections, audits, and observations.
  • Identify hazards, conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs) and project-specific risk assessments, and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop, schedule, and deliver safety training, new hire orientations, and required regulatory training.
  • Maintain current knowledge of OSHA, SWPPP, and other applicable regulations, ensuring company compliance and adoption of industry best practices.
  • Maintain employee training records, certifications, OSHA logs, safety documentation, and other required regulatory records.
  • Lead the reporting, investigation, and documentation of workplace injuries, near misses, vehicle accidents, property damage, and other safety incidents, ensuring timely corrective actions.
  • Monitor safety performance metrics, evaluate program effectiveness, prepare reports for leadership, and recommend improvements to policies, procedures, and safety initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with employees, subcontractors, and project teams while supporting company-wide safety goals and fostering a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
