About The Position

The Commercial Credit Construction Summer Intern supports Rockland Trust’s Construction Lending team and gains hands-on exposure to commercial construction lending, credit administration, and portfolio management. Working alongside Construction Portfolio Managers, Internal Inspectors, and department leadership, the intern helps maintain project information and supports activities involved in monitoring, funding, and administering construction loans from project onboarding through completion.

The internship also includes collaborative summer projects with other interns, including work on a real business challenge and the opportunity to present recommendations to organizational leadership. The position is designed to build analytical, organizational, communication, and operational skills and provide practical experience in commercial banking, real estate development financing, and construction loan administration.

Requirements

• Be a rising junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Commercial Real Estate, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to team objectives.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Professionalism and willingness to learn.
• Interest in commercial lending, construction finance, or real estate development.

Nice To Haves

• Experience creating or updating Excel macros.
• Coursework related to finance, real estate, accounting, project management, or construction.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintaining construction loans in Construct, the Bank’s cloud-based construction loan management platform.
• Review loan and construction documentation to support construction project onboarding and management.
• Update and maintain construction project budgets and related project information.
• Participate in the construction requisition and inspection process.
• Support management and distribution of department communications and inbox requests.
• Retrieve documentation for audits, reviews, and ongoing compliance activities.
• Create reports and summaries for the Construction Team Manager and department initiatives.
• Help keep construction loan information accurate, organized, and up to date.
• Collaborate with fellow interns on summer projects and present work to organizational leadership.
