About The Position

FirstCall Mechanical is seeking a seasoned Commercial Chiller Technician to join their fast-growing team in Tampa, FL. The ideal candidate will possess a can-do attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and an active EPA Certification. This role involves performing maintenance and repairs on various commercial HVAC systems, diagnosing equipment defects, and ensuring optimal system operation and compliance with industry standards. The technician will also be responsible for customer satisfaction, providing technical guidance, and preparing service reports.

Requirements

• Valid Driver License with acceptable driving record
• Active EPA Certification
• 5+ years’ of experience in a commercial HVAC setting with Chillers
• OSHA 10 certification
• Technical training in HVAC or Refrigeration
• Available to work flexible hours and on-call shifts as needed
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write correspondence.
• Ability to effectively communicate with the customer by checking in and out with them on jobs.
• Able to explain the problems and resolution in a manner that the customer can understand.
• Closely communicate issues/concerns/updates with account managers on jobs.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal numbers.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Mental stamina for problem-solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.
• Help take lead over and teach helpers and tech I’s.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and unscheduled maintenance and repair of commercial systems including air-cooled chillers, centrifugal chillers, pumps, cooling towers, air handler units, valves, fan coil units, variable air volume systems, etc.
• Diagnose and repair machine and equipment defects including electronic, mechanical, and electrical components related to these systems.
• Inspect and test system components to ensure proper operation, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, general servicing, and troubleshooting of mechanical HVAC systems.
• Assist in installing, retrofitting, and commissioning commercial chiller systems and related HVAC equipment.
• Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to assess and repair HVAC systems.
• Service, troubleshoot, and repair commercial/industrial Chiller and Refrigeration Equipment.
• Be comfortable and knowledgeable in electrical including electrical components, timers, contactors, relays.
• Adhere to safety protocols and comply with regulatory requirements related to HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Provide high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on-site, customer interface.
• Provide technical guidance and recommendations to clients regarding maintenance schedules, energy efficiency, and system improvement.
• Prepare and present detailed service reports to customers.
• Continual learning and development in the body of knowledge through FirstCall Academy, to ensure we set the bar for skill level in the industry.
• Provide elite level of customer service, to ensure we continue to be the FirstCall our customers make for their HVAC needs.
