About The Position
FirstCall Mechanical is seeking a seasoned Commercial Chiller Technician to join their fast-growing team in Freeport, NY. This role is with Industrial Cooling (ICACS), a company founded in 1991 specializing in large tonnage chiller service and controls for commercial, industrial, and education customers across the New York City metro area. ICACS partnered with FirstCall Mechanical in 2024. Requirements
- Valid Driver License with acceptable driving record
- Active EPA Certification
- 5+ years of experience in a commercial HVAC setting with Chillers
- OSHA 10 certification
- Technical training in HVAC or Refrigeration
- Available to work flexible hours and on-call shifts as needed
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write correspondence.
- Ability to effectively communicate with the customer by checking in and out with them on jobs.
- Able to explain the problems and resolution in a manner that the customer can understand.
- Closely communicate issues/concerns/updates with account managers on jobs.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal numbers.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Mental stamina for problem-solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.

Responsibilities
- Perform routine and unscheduled maintenance and repair of commercial systems including air-cooled chillers, centrifugal chillers, pumps, cooling towers, air handler units, valves, variable air volume systems, etc.
- Diagnose and repair machine and equipment defects including electronic, mechanical, and electrical components related to these systems.
- Inspect and test system components to ensure proper operation, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, general servicing, and troubleshooting of mechanical HVAC systems.
- Assist in installing, retrofitting, and commissioning commercial chiller systems and related HVAC equipment.
- Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to assess and repair HVAC systems.
- Service, troubleshoot, and repair commercial/industrial Chiller and Refrigeration Equipment.
- Perform electrical work including components, timers, contactors, and relays.
- Adhere to safety protocols and comply with regulatory requirements related to HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Provide high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on-site customer interface.
- Prepare and present detailed service reports to customers.
- Engage with the service team and customers.
- Take lead over and teach helpers and tech I’s.
