About The Position

Assumes the primary responsibility for managing existing and growing commercial banking relationships. This role involves interviewing customers and prospective customers to identify loan and deposit opportunities, developing and enhancing banking relationships by selling loan, deposit, and fee products/services. The position requires collecting and analyzing financial data for proper loan structure for presentations to the loan committee, managing a commercial calling program for existing customers, and assisting senior team members with new business development activities. Collaboration with the commercial banking team and credit department is essential for preparing new loan requests, prescreens, and committee presentations. The role also involves working with product partners like Treasury Management and Private Banking to establish products/services for commercial customers, responding to customer inquiries, and collaborating with Portfolio Managers to manage the existing loan portfolio. Monitoring and documenting the performance of the loan portfolio through call memos, site visits, financial reviews, annual reviews, and business development plans is crucial. Additionally, the Commercial Banker III monitors maturing loans, financial/covenant/documentation exceptions, and manages loan payment delinquency within their portfolio.

Requirements

  • Requires a four-year college degree or equivalent, major in Business or related fields.
  • Five to ten years specialized experience.
  • Operates a keypad device: 25% of the week.
  • Operates electronic equipment: 20% of the week; operates office equipment: 5% of the week.
  • Requires the use of manual dexterity skills for typing and data entry up to 25% of the business day.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision of 18”-20” for computer work.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews customers and prospective customers to identify loan/deposit opportunities
  • Develops and enhances banking relationships with commercial customers by selling loan, deposit and fee products/services.
  • Collects and analyzes financial data for proper loan structure for written/verbal presentation to loan committee.
  • Manages commercial calling program for existing customers.
  • Assists senior team members with new business development activities.
  • Negotiates customer loan documentation and facilitates loan closings in conjunction with a senior team member.
  • Carries out a variety of business development activities to identify bank prospects and develop key centers of influence.
  • Collaborates with commercial banking team and credit to prepare new loan requests, prescreens and committee presentations.
  • Ensures compliance with existing loan policies and procedures
  • Works with product partners including Treasury Management and Private Banking to establish products/services for commercial customers.
  • Responds to various customer questions and as needed directs to appropriate party and provides follow through.
  • Collaborates with Portfolio Managers to manage existing loan portfolio.
  • Monitors and documents performance of existing loan portfolio through call memos, site visits, financial collection/ review, including Annual Reviews and business development plans.
  • Monitors maturing loans and financial/covenant/documentation exceptions.
  • Manages loan payment delinquency within their portfolio
  • Maintains a good working relationship with bank employees.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, as well as motivated to work as a team player to contribute to the success of the department and in turn, the organization.
