The Commercial Appliance Technician responds to customer work orders assigned by the service manager, traveling to customer locations to troubleshoot and resolve commercial appliance issues. Work orders are dispatched electronically through a phone or iPad the afternoon before service, and technicians are expected to review them promptly to prepare for the next day's schedule. Technicians report by phone to a service manager based in Albany, who is available to help with questions and concerns, and must follow all company policies and procedures. The position includes a company van, fuel card, credit card, phone, and iPad. The van is taken home each night and may be used only for work unless the T&J Service Manager grants prior permission. Vehicles are GPS-monitored for location and safe-driving habits. The territory is Burlington, Vermont. Because there is no local shop in the region, technicians are responsible for up to 30 minutes of travel to the first job and up to 30 minutes home from the last call. Candidates must be willing to drive up to two hours one way for service calls. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., subject to change based on customer schedules and management discretion. A mandatory on-call weekend rotation is required. Compensation is $40–$45 per hour, based on experience.
