About The Position

Hawthorne Foundation Inc. serves children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities. Our educational, vocational and life skills programs are only a few of the programs available. We also offer parent training, recreational activities and crisis intervention. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Own vehicle (will use company vehicle), valid New York State License, current insurance, and liability coverage.
  • Strong command of verbal and written communication (English).

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience in the field of Developmental Disabilities/OPWDD with children or adults preferred.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of the individual.
  • Genuine interest in teaching, and willingness to motivate individuals to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for the specific individual assigned during all assigned work hours.
  • Responsible for completing and documenting individual’s valued outcomes on a daily and monthly basis, including collecting and graphing behavioral data as appropriate.
  • Responsible for assisting the individual with identifying in-home and community integration activities aligned with their preferences and goals and for carrying out these activities with the individual, with the expectation that at least 51% of the time will be spent in the community.
  • Ensures that individual is properly accounted for when transitioning to and from various locations.
  • Completes documentation for EVV and bi-weekly billing for submission to fiscal department.
  • Ensures the safety of assigned individual at all times and is well-versed on individual’s IPOP and medical conditions/limitations.
  • Communicates any concerns about the individual directly to the IRA Manager and Residential Coordinator.
  • Must use own vehicle to transport individual to community outings.
