About The Position

Turner Industries is seeking a Combo Welder for a maintenance position in Axis, Alabama. The role lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms such as tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, pipe, and building and bridge parts. This is a non-exempt position reporting to the Foreman. Duties are assigned according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently. The welder selects equipment and plans layouts, assembles and aligns components, secures parts for welding, and welds using specified processes. Work may include welding pipe, sheet metal, structural steel, brackets, and other materials; repairing products by dismantling and reshaping parts; and using a cutting torch to cut materials or remove existing assemblies. Compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.

Requirements

High school education or equivalent.
At least four years of experience in the specified skill.
Must pass a weld test before being hired.
Must be certified as a welder.
Must complete a post-offer drug and alcohol screen and physical evaluation, and sign acceptance of the company Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy.
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.

Responsibilities

Select welding equipment and plan layouts, assembly, and welding.
Lay out, position, align, and fit components together.
Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure them for welding.
Set up equipment and weld parts.
Assemble parts by bolting or riveting when needed.
Weld pipe, sheet metal, structural steel, brackets, and other materials using processes such as arc, heliarc, gas, MIG, and TIG.
Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
Use a cutting torch to cut materials and demolish existing assemblies.
Comply with company and client job-site safety requirements.
