Requirements

  • An ASTTBC-accredited diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in the electronics or communications field.
  • A working knowledge of electrical safety principles and safe work practices.
  • Eligible for registration as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) or Certified Engineering Technologist in British Columbia.
  • Demonstrated practical problem-solving skills and sound technical judgement.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare formal reports and deliver presentations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other standard computer applications.
  • Knowledge of, or interest in, the marine and defence environment.
  • Experience in, or a strong interest in, working in an industrial environment.
  • You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with, or certification to, IPC J-STD-001 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and maintain system documentation describing the functional and non-functional characteristics of Victoria-class submarine combat sub-systems.
  • Contribute to the design, integration, and sustainment of combat sub-systems within the Victoria-class submarine platform.
  • Deliver technical work in support of combat system sustainment, engineering changes, and capability upgrades, working closely with the System Engineer and broader engineering team.
  • Review and interpret system architectures to provide technical input to system integration activities, capability enhancements, and engineering change initiatives.
  • Apply a strong safety focus in all aspects of work, including adherence to submarine safety principles and required safety and awareness training.
  • Apply relevant Defence Standards, Military Specifications, and engineering best practices to the design, integration, and support of submarine-specific systems.
  • Apply working knowledge of combat systems to support ongoing engineering sustainment and technical problem-solving activities.
