About The Position

The Department of Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) seeks a board certified / board eligible physician to join our expanding Division of Colorectal Surgery. This position will include a four-eights commitment at our large and busy VA Hospital and clinic and operating time at our major teaching affiliate, Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, the Froedtert Surgery Center, and endoscopy time in our GI Lab at Froedtert Hospital. Patients at Froedtert Hospital are seen at the MCW/Froedtert Cancer Center and at the Froedtert Hospital Surgical Specialties Clinic. In addition, or as an alternative, there are practice opportunities at our other affiliate hospitals and at our off-campus practice sites, if there is interest in that type of practice. As an academic center, our major missions include, in addition to providing excellent clinical care, education and research. The successful applicant will be expected to teach our Colorectal Surgery Fellow, in addition to the residents and students who are on the General Surgery Service at the VA Hospital and the Colorectal Surgery Service at Froedtert Hospital. It is expected that you will also be involved in clinical and/or translational research, or educational research, based on your interests and background. We would also expect the successful candidate to be committed to fostering relationships with our colleagues in the multi-disciplinary care of our colon and rectal cancer patients. We collaborate closely with Medical and Radiation Oncology, Radiology, and Surgical Oncology to maintain our accreditation as a Nationally Accredited Program for Rectal Cancer. We also work with colleagues in various other surgical specialties (Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, Transplant Surgery, Urology, Orthopedics, Gynecology, Urogynecology and Gastroenterology) who work with us in caring for patients with complex surgical issues. In addition to having a Colorectal Surgery Fellow on our service at Froedtert Hospital, we also have Surgical Oncology and Gynecologic Oncology Fellows rotate on our service, which we all find educational and stimulating.
