About The Position

The Summer Law Intern Program (SLIP), a joint initiative of the Dallas Bar Association and the Dallas Independent School District, places high school students with law firms and corporate legal departments throughout the Dallas-area for up to eight weeks during the months of June, July, and August of 2026. The mission of the Law Library is tied to the educational mission of the College of Law. The Law Library will lead the way in teaching, resources, and services aimed at developing information-related competencies critical in law practice.

Requirements

  • Must be selected by the The Summer Law Intern Program (SLIP) prior to completing this application.
  • Dallas ISD high school juniors during the current school year.
  • Academic average of 85 or above, no more than 10 absences
  • Communication Skills.
  • Time Management and Reliability.
  • Professional Demeanor and Adaptability.
  • Self-Motivation and Initiative.

Nice To Haves

  • Interested in studying law preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in legal studies or the legal profession

Responsibilities

  • Perform general office administration and operational support duties.
  • Manage incoming phone calls and direct inquiries to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain and organize office supplies and inventory to support daily operations.
  • Perform accurate data entry.
  • Scan, digitize, and organize documents to maintain accurate electronic records.
  • Coordinate the timely and accurate delivery of documents, records, and correspondence to support efficient business operations and communication.
  • Conduct research and gather information from a variety of sources.
