About The Position

The Bronx District Attorney’s Office will conduct an eight-week internship program that will immerse students in the real-world work of criminal justice. College interns are compensated at $17.50 per hour. Interns work full-time, Mondays through Fridays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This internship is fully in-person. Interns are assigned to a specific bureau within the Office and are directly supervised by an Assistant District Attorney or the Director of the Unit or Bureau.

Requirements

  • Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school
  • Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school

Nice To Haves

  • Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study (for Assignment Level II)
  • Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study (for Assignment Level III)

Responsibilities

  • Aid in discovery
  • Observe witness interviews, hearings, and trials
  • Listen to and transcribe 911 calls
  • Review police reports
  • Participate in arrest intake processing
  • Evaluate notifications of child abuse or endangerment
  • Assist in the review of materials to be disclosed to the defense
  • Attend lectures and participate in a training program alongside law student interns
