College Intern - Engineering

About The Position

The City of Hamilton is hiring an intern for entry-level engineering work in local government. The intern will work with the Engineering Department and have the opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of street improvement and utility projects. Work is performed under the direction of experienced engineering staff. The position offers flexible hours. Some remote work may be considered, but the intern is expected to work at the Hamilton Engineering office at least three days per week.

Requirements

• Actively pursuing a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Transportation Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Ability to communicate well with City engineering staff, property owners, contractors, and the general public.
• Strong self-initiative and a sense of urgency to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to preparing plans for street improvement, storm water, gas, water, and sanitary sewer projects under the direction of experienced engineering staff.
• Complete field assignments, including data collection, inspection, and surveying.
• Provide technical assistance to engineering staff and participate in meetings with engineers and other city staff.
