About The Position

The Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City government's chief financial agency. OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayor’s expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities. OMB’s Miscellaneous Revenue and Interfund Agreements Task Force includes two distinct Units: the Miscellaneous Revenue Unit and the Interfund Agreements Unit. The Miscellaneous Revenue Unit forecasts and monitors the non-tax, non-grant portion of city revenue ranging from cost-based charges, water and sewer revenue, and other income.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in an accredited college or university.
  • A cover letter is required to be considered for this position.
  • Graduate: Must be currently enrolled in a graduate program.
  • Candidates should have strong analytical, quantitative, research and communication skills.
  • Additionally, candidates must be proficient in MS Word and Excel.
  • Undergraduate: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.

  • You must be a City resident within 90 days of the date of appointment and you must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency or experience with Python, PowerBI or other exploratory data analysis tools.
  • Interest in government funding, municipal operations, or public financial planning.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and collaborate effectively with a team setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist analysts by building user-friendly, automated dashboards and visualizations.
  • Support the monitoring of revenues for various City agencies which includes data entry, organizing, cleaning and basic analysis of datasets.
  • Help maintain the centralized fee database ensuring updated data on legislative authority, implementation dates, and the responsible administrative agencies.
  • Provide research support regarding Federal, State, and Local legislation and regulations to assist analysts in evaluating fiscal impact on City operations.
