About The Position

First Financial Credit Union (FFCU), a Southern Californian based financial institution, is seeking a Collector to join its team at its new operations center in Pasadena. As a Collector, you'll assist members with their financial hardships through inbound and outbound calls or emails. You will be responsible for skip tracing and helping the department in other ways in order to mitigate losses for the credit union and assist members with getting things back on track. Experience with Real Estate Collections is a plus. This position will be based out of FFCU's new headquarters, located at 2900 Bradley Street, Pasadena, CA.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months to 1-year hands-on collection functions or equivalent work experience.
  • Fundamental Knowledge of all aspects of collections and Operations.
  • Analytical ability to conduct an analysis of applicant's credit status and recommend alternatives where the analysis reveals an insufficient financial position.
  • Fundamental Knowledge and understanding of Loans and credit related laws, rules and regulations.
  • Basic Knowledge of credit fundamentals (i.e. credit scoring, reviewing of a credit report, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of daily Credit Union operations.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers.
  • Type 45 wpm.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic Knowledge of credit union policies, procedures and federal regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Real Estate Collections is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of all Credit Union loan and collection programs, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Basic Knowledge of all collection dept. operational tasks, and performing tasks as established within the procedural and policy guidelines.
  • Providing support to fellow staff members, by assisting with training and developing staff on the internal collection department functions, products and services.
  • Ability to comprehend member needs, and provide appropriate counseling to assist with their financial status, and/or provide viable alternatives or resolutions to their financial issues and concerns
  • Supporting Leadership staff in their review operational revisions to policies, procedures, objectives, and goals for each area of responsibility specifically to achieve, consistent delivery of Superior Member Service, and enhance effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Acting as Liaison and representing the credit union in associated functions related to Collections Accounts.
  • Assist in preparing and arrange the dissemination of information to members and others that will project a favorable image for the Credit Union.
  • Providing constructive input to implementing enhancements to departmental procedures and reference manuals, (automated or otherwise) as related to the Collections Department products & services and processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
