About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Cold-Formed Steel (CFS) Metal Framer / Fabricator to assemble light-gauge / cold-formed steel wall panels and roof/floor trusses for modular home production. This hands-on factory role focuses on building structural framing assemblies according to shop drawings, cut lists, and engineering specifications. Ideal candidates have experience with light-gauge steel framing systems and take pride in precise, high-quality workmanship. The role is performed in an on-site factory or construction environment. Work involves prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, and handling materials, with exposure to noise, metal dust, and industrial equipment. Typical day shifts may include overtime during peak production.

  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure and interpret basic shop drawings or blueprints.
  • Proficiency with common hand and power tools used in metal framing, such as screw guns, shears, levels, and squares.
  • Strong attention to detail, quality focus, and ability to work to tight tolerances.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and handle materials up to 75 lbs, and work in a production environment.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work as part of a team.

  • Forklift certification or experience with material handling equipment.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
  • Military or civilian experience in structural steel erection, sheet metal, or modular construction.
  • Prior NMCB (Naval Mobile Construction Battalion / Seabees) service with SW (Steelworker) rating, highly desired for structural steel fabrication, welding/cutting, blueprint reading, layout, pre-engineered structures, leadership, and related skills.
  • CSEO (Certified Scottsdale Equipment Operator) or similar training/certification from other light-gauge steel framing machine makers, such as Knudson or CanFrame.
  • Experience with light-gauge / cold-formed steel framing specifically for modular, prefabricated, or residential construction.
  • Familiarity with automated or CNC roll-forming lines, inline punching, and production software.
  • Welding certifications (e.g., AWS), forklift operation, or related equipment qualifications.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble cold-formed steel wall panels, including layout, placement, alignment, and fastening of studs, tracks, headers, openings, and related components.
  • Assemble roof and/or floor trusses using light-gauge steel members, ensuring proper alignment, bracing, and connection details.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings, panel layouts, truss drawings, cut lists, and production schedules to ensure accurate construction.
  • Measure, cut as needed, fit, square, and fasten CFS members using appropriate fasteners, clips, and connection methods while maintaining dimensional tolerances.
