About The Position

This position is responsible for preparing fresh salads, fruits, vegetables, and other cold food items in a scratch-made kitchen at Episcopal High School. The role involves setting up and maintaining the salad bar, preparing made-to-order sandwiches, and serving students and staff with a positive attitude. Adherence to food safety and sanitation procedures is critical. The role also includes assisting with catering and special events, and collaborating with the culinary team.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of food service experience required.
Thorough knowledge of food safety, sanitation, allergen awareness, and cross-contamination prevention.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
Strong customer service skills with a friendly, respectful, and enthusiastic attitude.
Dependable, punctual, self-motivated, and a strong team player.
Must be able to stand for extended periods throughout the workday and safely lift, carry, push, or pull at least 40 pounds.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Successful completion of a background check is required.

Nice To Haves

Experience in scratch cooking, cold food preparation, salad production, deli, or sandwich preparation preferred.
Previous school food service experience is a plus.
ServSafe Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare fresh salads, fruits, vegetables, and other cold food items in a scratch-made kitchen.
Wash, cut, chop, and process fresh produce according to recipes and daily production needs.
Set up, stock, and maintain an attractive, fully stocked salad bar throughout meal service.
Prepare made-to-order sandwiches quickly, accurately, and with attention to presentation.
Serve students and staff with enthusiasm, professionalism, and a positive attitude.
Follow standardized recipes, portion control, and quality standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized workstation.
Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures, including proper prevention of cross-contamination.
Assist with catering, special events, and other kitchen duties as needed.
Work collaboratively with the culinary team to ensure smooth daily operations and support fellow team members as needed.
