About The Position

Responsible for preparing and serving high-quality, nutritionally appropriate foods that satisfy guests. The Cold Cook observes safe food-handling procedures and maintains sanitation of the work area and equipment. The position is at the Blue Mountain Bistro at UPMC’s Outpatient Center in Mechanicsburg and is scheduled Monday through Friday, 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Requirements

• Act 34 clearance.
• A work permit is required if under 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Chill, store, and record prepared and leftover food according to health department guidelines, and maintain temperature-cooling-log documentation.
• Maintain an inspection-ready work area consistently.
• Use and maintain equipment according to manufacturer and department guidelines, following all safety procedures.
• Complete advance preparation for the next day of service.
• Produce high-quality cold and grilled food products according to standardized recipes and production-sheet volume requirements.
• Provide courteous and helpful customer service daily.
• Prepare food within designated timeframes and monitor food usage throughout service to ensure volume needs are met.
• Follow Safety Data Sheet (SDS) information for the proper and safe use of workplace chemicals, and store chemicals and cleaning supplies away from food production areas.
• Follow departmental safe food-handling procedures at all times.
