Requirements

  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credentialed from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Reg Health Info Admnstr credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association(AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Reg Health Info Tech credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association(AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • High School diploma equivalency and 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree and 1 year of experience OR 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of coding experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision to coding associates, overseeing daily diagnosis and procedure coding assignments to ensure peak performance and team engagement.
  • Implement and monitor quality and quantity checks for all coding work, promoting continuous improvement in accuracy and documentation compliance.
  • Act as the primary coding resource, supporting new and existing staff through training, and recommending or implementing educational programs to elevate team expertise.
  • Strategically manage team workflow, determining work priorities, and assigning and scheduling workloads to meet key revenue cycle operational goals.
  • Assist with the compilation, generation, and analysis of data for results reporting and performance improvement initiatives. Additionally, provide proactive recommendations to leadership for improving overall coding and documentation accuracy.
