Coding Quality Analyst - Inpatient
About The Position
This is a Monday - Friday, 40 hours per weekday shift position. Start time is flexible between the hours of 6am - 9am CST, eight hours per day is required. This is a remote position. To be eligible to work remotely, you must be in an approved remote work state for UW Health. We are seeking a Coding Quality Analyst to assess the accuracy and completeness of the coding of inpatient cases by performing retrospective and concurrent audits and to ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulatory requirements. You will provide feedback to coding team members regarding audit results and respond to coding questions. You will also assist with the training and onboarding new Inpatient Coders, including auditing. Additionally, you will maintain internal coding guidelines; research, prepare and disseminate information related to official coding guidance updates. You will work collaboratively with the Coding and CDI Quality Analyst teams for DRG issues and other operational activities, including internal and external secondary coding reviews.
Requirements
- Graduate of a medical coding program required. Two (2) years of Coding experience may be considered in lieu of the medical coding program in addition to the experience below.
- 3 years of progressive acute care hospital inpatient coding experience to include experience coding MS-DRGs and APR-DRGs required.
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) required.
Nice To Haves
- Graduate of a Health Information Technology Program preferred.
- 5 years or more of inpatient coding experience in an academic medical center preferred.
- Experience with coding quality audits and improvement projects preferred.
- Training experience preferred.
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred.
