About The Position

The Coding Compliance and Education Specialist supports revenue cycle efficiency by analyzing coding and medical documentation, identifying discrepancies, and providing education to improve documentation practices among providers and clinical staff. The position collaborates with healthcare professionals to develop and implement strategies that improve billing accuracy and compliance with regulations. It conducts regular audits, uses audit findings to refine training materials and processes, and supports system updates and modifications by helping team members adapt to new standards. The role is part of the Health Information Management Department, which supports accurate, secure, and accessible medical records through work in coding, data integrity, transcription, release of information, and referral coordination.

Requirements

Willingness to obtain one of the following within 12 months of hire: CDIP, CPMA, CEMC, or CPC-I.
Knowledge of medical coding.
Medical coding proficiency.
Critical thinking and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills.
Leadership qualities.
Adaptability.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or a related field; extensive training and/or experience will also be considered.
ICD-10 training certification.
Extensive training and/or experience.
RHIA or RHIT certification.
