About The Position

Trustpoint Rehabilitation Hospital of Lubbock is seeking a Coder to join its patient-care team. Trustpoint is a 93-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Lubbock, Texas, providing adult and pediatric care for patients with conditions including stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, orthopedic trauma, and other complex medical conditions. The Coder uses ICD-10-CM standards to code and abstract medical records for reimbursement purposes and integrates the hospital’s mission and Guiding Principles into daily practice.

Requirements

• Current knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding principles, government regulations, protocols, and third-party payer requirements regarding coding and billing.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• General computer skills, including data entry, word processing, email, and record management.
• Effective organizational and time-management skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain quality and safety standards.
• Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
• Ability to work closely and professionally with others.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of medical coding experience in ICD-9/ICD-10.
• Medical Coding Certification.
• Knowledge of government prospective payment system guidelines.
