About The Position

Mesquite Rehabilitation Institute is seeking a Coder to support its inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Mesquite, Texas. The Coder codes and abstracts medical records using ICD-10-CM standards for reimbursement purposes and integrates the hospital’s mission and “Guiding Principles” into daily practice. The position is full-time and on site. Candidates must pass a coding test during the interview process.

Requirements

Two years of medical coding experience in ICD-9/ICD-10 is preferred.
Current knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding principles, government regulations, protocols, and third-party payer requirements regarding coding and billing.
Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
General computer skills, including data entry, word processing, email, and record management.
Effective organizational and time-management skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain quality and safety standards.
Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality.
Ability to work closely and professionally with others.
Must pass a coding test during the interview process.

Nice To Haves

Medical coding certification.
Knowledge of government prospective payment system guidelines.
Two years of medical coding experience in ICD-9/ICD-10.
