About The Position

This role involves performing outpatient medical record coding and abstracting outpatient surgery data into a computerized system. The primary responsibilities include accurately identifying significant diagnoses and procedures, determining the principal diagnosis and procedure for hospitalizations, and assigning correct classification codes. A key performance standard is to code all outpatient records within four days of receipt.

Requirements

• Accurately identify significant diagnoses and procedures and determine the principal diagnosis and procedure for each hospitalization 95-100% of the time.
• Assign correct classification codes for identified diagnoses and procedures accurately 95-100% of the time.
• Sequence all procedures performed according to established guidelines.
• Code all outpatient medical records as documented on daily activity reports.
• Code all OP records within four days of receipt to your area.
• Abstract outpatient surgery data into computerized system.

Responsibilities

• Perform Outpatient Medical Record Coding.
• Identify significant diagnoses and procedures and determine the principal diagnosis and procedure for each hospitalization accurately 95-100% of the time to meet standard; 94% or less is below standard as documented by quality assurance activities.
• Assign correct classification codes for identified diagnoses and procedures accurately 95-100% of the time to meet standard; 94% or less is below standard, as documented by quality assurance activities.
• Sequence all procedures performed according to the established guidelines.
• Code all outpatient medical records as documented on daily activity reports.
• Abstract outpatient surgery data into computerized system.
