About The Position

Trustpoint Rehabilitation Hospital of Lubbock is seeking a Coder to join its patient-care team. The 93-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital provides adult and pediatric care and specializes in stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, orthopedic trauma, and other complex medical conditions. The Coder uses ICD-10-CM standards to code and abstract medical records for reimbursement purposes and integrates the hospital’s mission and Guiding Principles into daily practice.

Requirements

• Two years of medical coding experience in ICD-9/ICD-10 is preferred.
• Medical Coding Certification is preferred.
• Current knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding principles, government regulations, protocols, and third-party payer requirements regarding coding and billing.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Demonstrated general computer skills, including data entry, word processing, email, and record management.
• Effective organizational and time management skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain quality and safety standards.
• Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
• Ability to work closely and professionally with others.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of medical coding experience in ICD-9/ICD-10.
• Medical Coding Certification.
• Knowledge of government prospective payment system guidelines.
